Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was born within Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her after her hometown. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's dad was born into a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. The actress also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Her younger brother is Uria. Ryder as well as her entire family moved to Mendocino, California, when Ryder was only seven years old. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder became an avid read because they had no television. Ryder began taking classes in acting at American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Lucas was let go in 1986, and Ryder who was just 15 years old, was offered a role as a leading actress. Ryder was subject to bullying in high school. Ryder hoped that her actions would bring about a change. Sadly that didn't happen. But she continued to pursue her dream. Her big break came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles. There were two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
